Platte River Fort sits at the end of a tree-lined lane on 235 acres along the South Platte River, just off Highway 34 east of Greeley and only an hour or so from Denver or Cheyenne.


From the Greeley Area

Take Highway 34 east, look for Platte River Fort on your left (north of the highway) at the intersections of Highway 34 and Weld County Road 47.

From the Denver Area

Take I-76 east to Weld County Road 49/Kersey Road exit 34, about one mile east of Hudson. Go north to Highway 34 and take a left onto 34. Go one mile to Weld County 47. At Weld County Road 47, look for Platte River Fort on your right.

From I-25

From I-25, take the Loveland/Greeley exit 257. Follow the exit going east on Highway 34 through Greeley. Platte River Fort is located three miles east of Greeley at the intersection of Highway 34 and Weld County Road 47. Look for Platte River Fort on your left or north of the highway.

Arrival Time

Please plan on arriving 20 minutes prior to the ceremony. Photography is usually taking place up to 30 minutes prior to the ceremony start time. Early guest arrival can interfere with photography time and the couple’s privacy. When you arrive, please proceed directly to the designated ceremony location.

Early Arrival

Wedding guests who arrive to Platte River Fort early will be asked to wait in the ceremony or reception area.


When you arrive at Platte River Fort, please follow the parking signs to designated parking areas. Guests are welcome to walk from parking areas to the ceremony location or wait for our transportation staff to provide shuttle service to the ceremony location.

Accessible Parking

Platte River Fort provides accessible parking and shuttle service for our guests.

Changing & Dressing

Please come dressed for the event as Platte River Fort does not have a changing or dressing area for wedding guests. Also, please be sure to come prepared for the weather.

Alcoholic Beverages

Platte River Fort invites you to enjoy adult beverages provided by the host of the wedding. Please do not bring your own alcohol. In the event you do bring alcohol onto the property you will be asked by our event security to either turn over the alcohol, leave the property, or both. Remember our high elevation. Drink slowly and drink a lot of water. Water is available at the bar at all times. Also, we recommend eating throughout the evening.

Designated Smoking Area

A designated smoking area is located directly outside Bent’s Barn. Smoking is not permitted in any other area on the property. In the event guests smoke anywhere other than the designated smoking area the guest will be asked to leave the property and the host will forfeit their damage deposit.

Child Safety

Children must be under “adult” supervision at all times. The Platte River Fort is a working farm/ranch and therefore has numerous hazards that could be dangerous for children or adults. The Platte River Fort does not provide child care services and is NOT responsible for supervising children or adults during events.

After Event Parties

After event parties are not permitted on the property of Platte River Fort. All guests must vacate the property at the conclusion of ceremony or reception unless they have reservations for overnight accommodations at Platte River Fort.

Platte River Fort Guest Suites

Platte River Fort offers luxurious suites, premier bedrooms and cozy bunkrooms for the wedding party and their guests to enjoy. Overnight accommodations are provided by reservation only and the following restrictions apply: maximum occupancy in each room differs and cannot be exceeded, no smoking, no pets, and no candles.


Transportation staff will be available to take you to your car. Please do not drink and drive. If you plan on drinking, please designate a driver. Please note the shuttle and taxi services we recommend in the area. You may always leave your vehicle at Platte River Fort and pick it up by 10am the next morning.
